Stepping out of the extreme electronic fusions of his Eight Frozen Modules guise, Ken Giinson delivers some choice tech-house as the Premature Wig. Snazzy, glitched-up 4/4 grooves are the foundation that carries waves of dreamy vocal effects, throbbing synthesizer melodies, and cycling atmospherics.
Ken Gibson's mind is the home not only of The Premature Wig, but also Dubloner, Eight Frozen Modules and a host of other off-center pseudonyms past and time being arranged. The red thread loosely slung around and between these ideas is that the frontier of art is an enigma radiating from digital domain. Less an explanation of the unknown, Ken's comfort with free space is like a road sign warning of dangerously scenic views.
Ken is also a former guitar toting band front man and former resident of Texas. Ken moved to California in pursuit of his California dream, which at the time primarily simply involved living in California. He now resides in Echo Park, a sleepy, smallish neighborhood not far from urban L.A. No one is really quite sure how or when he acquired such extraordinary powers of electro and groove, but it surely has been latent inside him for some time. Whereas Ken's experimental project Eight Frozen Modules is a laptop-gigging, CD-R carrying member of electronic music's intelligentsia, The Premature Wig says to us: "I program my home computer to. . . c'mon and get down." Ken Gibson presents Endless Haptic so that you too may hear what happens when GROOVE and METHOD elope.
