Vancouver's Puffins have a penchant for '80s songwriting and production aesthetics, from their Eno-inspired dreamy keyboards to their mechanical XTC tightness. Keeping the tempo upbeat and straight-ahead, they focus on the development of their super-catchy melodies and great harmonies with high energy.
Biography
Founded by the need to create their own parallel pop universe...the songwriting duo of Ian Smith and Patrick Hare began in 1991. The combination of Smiths' unique vocals and melodic sensibilities were the perfect compliment to Hares' rhythmic foundation and sense of pop construction. And, because of their strong sense of indepenence and the ability to do everything themselves... ..writing, recording, producing...they developed as true pop-art originals.
