Before he became a vaunted downtown rocker with the Walkmen, Pete Bauer was an unvaunted downtown rocker with the Recoys. Listening to Bauer's late-'90s band after the Walkmen offers a valuable glimpse into the coalescing of the latter's sound. Crossing swinging London with New York Rock, the Recoys might have been what Julian Casablancas was listening to.
Biography
Lost record from this late 1990's band featuring a young Hamilton Leithauser, Pete Bauer (The Walkmen) and Hugh McIntosh (French Kicks). Two tracks on this record have been reworked by the Walkmen ("That's the Punchline" and "The Blizzard of '93").
