Editor's review

The Toronto country-rockers have been best known as Neko Case's supporting crew, but hey--the same was once true for Bob Dylan's little backing "band." The comparison holds up in the music. The Sadies serve north-of-the-border twang with campfire warmth.

Biography

New Seasons' gorgeously layered harmonies and vividly rendered songs show a band at the peak of its creative power, conjuring the Notorious Byrd Brothers, The Burrito Brothers, Buffalo Springfield and The Band (and that's just the "B"s).

Recorded both at Paco Loco in Spain and at the Woodshed in Toronto with friend and collaborator Gary Louris (Jayhawks, Golden Smog), the album features the brotherly harmonies and dazzling guitar interplay of Dallas and Travis Good, with drummer Mike Belitsky and upright bassist Sean Dean. While the Sadies' inspired amalgam of psychedelic country rock, surf, bluegrass and Ennio Morricone-esque inspired instrumentals has made them the preeminent torchbearers of cosmic American music, they're also musicians' musicians and in-demand session players who have appeared on albums with Neko Case, The Mekons, Andre Williams, Jon Spencer's Heavy Trash and more.
Entertainment Weekly said of the band: Toronto's Sadies earn both halves of the 'country rock' tag, tearing through honkytonk, rockabilly, surf, electric bluegrass, and heavy psychedelic rock with virtuosic soul and unhinged brawn. It's no wonder they’re often referred to as Canada's best live band.
