Drunk, sweaty, ragged, and all the more elegant for it, the Teeth has locked into that venerable formula mastered by the Stones. Its dashing disrepair is classic rock at its base, but the group also introduces strains of noir and dark blues redolent of Cohen and Waits.
The Teeth are often compared to the Kinks, The Talking Heads, and the movie "Punch Drunk Love". With three previous self-produced-self-released albums and 2006's Carry the Wood EP (their debut on Philadelphia's Park the Van Records) preceding it, You’re My Lover Now is their first full-length on the label that is also home to fan favorites Dr. Dog and The High Strung. Recorded in a warehouse in West Philadelphia, You're My Lover Now is as singular and strange as the location it was created in. It's an emotionally absurd vision of the mundane with inspiring build-ups and depressing let-downs. You're My Lover Now is available for digital pre-release as of Tuesday, April 24th.
