Editor's review

These Aussie up-and-comers put the "emo" in demo. Like the lovelorn lads that populate our own Orange County, the four join yearning vocals and brooding basslines to irresistible hooks. But the group avoids the overcooking that can plague statesiders: their chords never top a snappy simmer.

Biography

The Trivs were formed in May 2005 by Miller Rouse(lead singer/guitar) and Daniel Gaffney(drums). After watching the local fare at the 2005 Battle of the Bands in Dubbo, Miller and Daniel decided to form a band, and a few weeks later The Trivs were born. They made a one year plan: To write 12 songs and win Dubbo Battle of the Bands. It wasn't until the end of June that year that The Trivs discovered Michael Bones, or Bonesy, their second guitarist, who had no hesitation in joining. Neil Whitehead on bass joined soon after. The Trivs soon discovered their musical compatibility, and it was not long before The Trivs developed their own style and a decent array of their own songs. The Trivs worked towards completing their one year plan, and on May 19th, The Trivs completed it by winning the Dubbo Battle of the Bands, having gone past the 12 song mark at the beginning of 2006. They then also won the Regional Final for the Battle of the Bands, beating the best from Orange, Lithgow, and Bathurst. The ensuing prize was a 3 track demo, which was released in December 2006. Their new plan for 2007: Move to Canberra! God Bless The Trivs!
