Editor's review

Easy-to-love country melodies drift from the speakers when the Wakefields are stacked up on the hi-fi. The music is steeped in the melancholy of an autumn rainstorm, but despite the blue moodiness of the lyrics, the rhythm and tone also retain the brightness of a summer afternoon. Go ahead, play it again, you know you want to.

Biography

The Wakefields are an original alt-country band based out of Seattle who play a well-rounded set of traditional roots music ranging from Bakersfield country to tinges of rockabilly to more mainstream-influenced music. Along with original songs, they specialize in covering the B-side songs that somehow missed the radio play in their day.

People who have heard them perform have compared them to The Mavericks, The Derailers or The Jayhawks, all eclectic bands they are more than pleased to be associated with. With former members of the Western Swing outfit Six String Eric and his Lazy Ranch Hands and their midwest roots, their sound became enriched in various Americana genres they are proud of.
