Alt-country is a catchall term these days. Iin this case it means what it should--a sleepy Americana feel recalling Mermaid Avenue-Wilco--plaintive acoustic guitar riffs, heartbreak lyrics, and not a whole lot else. And if the group gets a bit growly at times, Chris Isaak-style verses forgive all.
