Biography

Chicago based artist and singer/songwriter Tim Lowly works in collaboration with various musicians and singers (including Steve Alspach, Rebecca Perry, Betsy Birkey, Scott Sumner, Andrew Allnutt, and Christi Vohs) under the appellation "l'orchestra oeuf". Or not. The music that one percieves when standing outside the practice room where the ensemble is rehearsing might be called "heavy metal" until one realizes that is the next door neighbor's stereo. Actually the lowly music is pretty serious stuff; it floats -- fairly gently -- all over a generally melancholic musical map. The Portugese have a word that is quite difficult to translate: "saudade" There is some of that in there too. We aren't aiming to put you to sleep, but that might happen, then we get snappy and everybody puts on their groovy dancing shoes.
