Editor's review

Using an old Amiga computer and some flimsy sequencers, mid-range techno producer Tomas Andersson intriguingly mates the ultrafuturistic with the lo-fi. Pitchy, analog sythns stab at what sounds like factory machinery coming alive and staging a revolt. Stockholm's Andersson basked in the spotlight for a time in 2005 with the Tiga remix of his track "Washing Up," which appeared on a plethora of critcs' year-end best-of lists.

Biography

Resident of Stockholm, Sweden. After a short stint at university studying law, the love of music took overhand. Started arranging parties and did some djing in and around Stockholm in the early nineties, and soon turned to producing using an old amiga computer and some cheap synths. Updated to a pc a few years ago and now hardly ever use any outboard equipment.

1999: Started a label (Average Records) together with a group of likeminded musicians. Did a bunch of sets of improvised techno/electro together with my label mates in average records.

2000:
Another compilation from average records and some more sets of improvised techno/electro together with my label mates.

2001:
Released a 12” on Inkfish Records, which got completely lost. got hooked up with newly started label longhaul in the UK. Released a 12”, which was made single of the month in Jockey Slut Magazine. Even more sets of improvised techno/electro together with the guys in average records.

2002:
Hooked up with publishing company container, run by Hakan Lidbo. Released an album, Hem Ljuva Hem (means home sweet home in swedish), for Longhaul Records. Got good press except for ministry mag who hated it, but i don’t like them either, so it doesn’t really matter to me what they think.
Did a live set at Fabric in London in february to coincide with the album release. went really well considering the fact it was my first real live set on my own outside of Stockholm.
Did a live set at ostgut in berlin in the summer (the week right before the love parade) - nice club, nice people, nice town.
meant to release two more 12” for Longhaul Records but that company is now kind of being kept on hold since last summer.
year ended with two live sets at clubs in stockholm.

2003:
got in contact with Bpitchcontrol who wanted to release a 12". A live set planned in may at a rather big party in stockholm.

2004
in may the maxi “bas” (bpc088) got released with the wicked acid-monster track “numb”, which ellen allien used for her cd-mix “my parade”. Even Modeselektor got inspired by this wicked track and recalled “numb” in their track “raveanthem” (bpc099).

2005
My 4th ep was released in january. “festivities” got to be the hundredth release of bpitchcontrol! thanx to everyone!
in february and march i played live acts in several european cities within the camping tour 2005 - we all did pretty well in getting people to party! In june the 12" „washing up“ including a remix form Tiga himself got released (bpc108) and has since then been licenced to numerous compilations, and been selected as signature music for a Swedish tv-series. i've done quite a lot of gigs during summer/autumn and have been nominated to p3 guld (a swedish national radio prize). Encouraged by the success of that track i locked myself in the studio and produced hip date, which was then still released in 2005 (bpc114). This year will find its end at a big bang on new year’s eve at the maria in berlin which i am very much looking forward to!

2006
"copy cat" (bpc123) was a pretty good start for 2006.
watch out for some more exciting releases!!!
