Editor's review

In the early '70s, folk-pop was the go-to form for literary songwriters. That circumstance has changed 10 times over, but Southern California's Langford hearkens back to the heyday of Young, Mitchell, and Drake. Tracks like "Tightwire" show a songman with a moving voice and a feel for strong images.

Biography

Tom Langford is an accomplished singer/songwriter. He was named 2005 Acoustic Rock Artist of the Year from XM Radio. In the early 90s, Tom traveled the world honing his craft. Once back in the states, he started playing gigs around the Los Angeles area, initially getting his start from Bibby Hansen (Becks Mom). Soon he began touring up and down California. GoDigital is proud to announce the release of Along The Way, a digital re- release of music from Tom Langford. The compilation is composed of tracks from Tom's earlier records, Mercy To Be Found, and Places You Know and also includes the rare track, "Battery," from Broken Dance (EP). The release adds to material put out on a digital EP compilation titled Time Between from October 2006. Tom has received accolades and praise from both the industry and his peets. XM Satellite Radio named him the Best New Acoustic Rock Artist of 2005, and Paste Magazine described his music as "somewhere between Nick Drake's fragile beauty and Leonard Cohen's wry, literary folk." Tom's music has been spun on KCRW, WNCW, KXCI, WBCE, KRCL, WYOU, WEVL, MAINE PUBLIC, KCLC, KLCC, KUNM, KPND, KGNU, WFPK, WRRW, XM The Loft, and many international and internet radio stations. Tom's music has also received placements in television programs, most recently ABC's October Road. His prior album, Here Comes Memory, was featured as an iTunes Store Indie Spotlight and Staff Favorites pick for over 32 weeks. He’s been a featured download-of-the- day on Napster and a featured Singer/Songwriter on Sony Connect. In addition to music, Tom makes a living as a landscape architect, running the design and construction firm Mother Magnolia. His designs have been featured on HGTV's Landscapers Challenge (Tom has won several of the challenges)
