The husky voice and mellow vibe of this L.A.-based singer-songwriter often get him placed in the same sentence (and sometimes on the same stage) as John Mayer and Jack Johnson. That's no small praise, but it's still not quite right. Lucca's road-weary tone and country inflections are more in line with Jackson Browne.
"All for the pure intoxication," in a generation searching for the next great emotional high comes singer songwriter Tony Lucca. A Gen X-er himself, Lucca shows influences of the great singer songwriters of the past in his music. "I think that when what you aspire to do is of a timeless, classic nature, it will inevitably outlast the trends and the uncertainty of whatever business you're in. People will always want to hear good songs."
And with that said we are drawn into the world of Tony Lucca. A place where he can weave words together in such a way that they paint pictures and emotions that bewitch longtime fans and quiet regulars alike.
At the age of 3 Tony began singing and playing guitar and by the time he was 12 he had begun writing and playing in various local Detroit area bands. Growing up on a diet of family gatherings that turned into extended jam sessions, Lucca's path was set.
Following his stint on the Mickey Mouse Club, he moved to LA where he appeared in numerous independent movies and the short-lived TV series Malibu Shores. But remaining true to his personal vision, Tony returned to music, shunning the 90's pop scene and searching for deeper more personal music with an honesty not often found today.
Lucca's first album, So Satisfied, was released via his web site tonylucca.com selling thousands of copies with only internet and show sales. His subsequent releases and constant touring has led him to upwards of 10,000 records sold and generated a large fan base and a street team of over 1,000 members.
For the past five years, the road has been what Tony calls home. Sharing the stage with the likes of Marc Anthony, n*sync, Johnny Lang and John Mayer, Tony has a growing reputation as an amazing live artist. Since Febuary of last year, he has played just over 200 shows - Not bad for an artist without a booking agent.
Look for Tony's new DVD release Anatomy of a Blackbird early in 2006!
