With no need for a singer nor a guitar player, Tussle delivers its dancefloor candy with only an extremely proficient rhythm section consisting of a dub-loving bass player, two disco-crazy percussionists, and a pair of talented noise specialists. They economically launch right into what they do best--grooving--and stick to it long enough to get even the most stiff-necked hipster moving and shaking. Nods are well thrown to progressive rock's finer moments, borrowing some beats and techniques from the school of Can and Liquid Liquid. If DJ's are leaving you cold, Tussle will warm you.
This is the debut full length from Tussle. Their sound has been compared to King Tubby meets Chic meets Liquid Liquid meets Can. Progged-out disco dub? The band is composed of bass, drums, electronics, and another percussionist playing found objects...Don't think they are the typical disco punk crap you hear on the radio. This band is about a million times more organic and rhythm oriented than your average band. The lack of guitar and vocals definitely bring out the dub side and the double drummers definitely bring out the dance side. The result is one of the most original bands on the TMU roster. Excellent packaging including limited clear vinyl and beautiful digipack CD.
