Give your favorite R&B crooners a hefty serving of Southern molasses and you'll have a sense of this all-male Mississippi quintet. With a bedroom wisdom belying their college-age years, the group serves up jazzy slow jams evoking drippy candles and fine cognac.
Unique Image was established on February 13, 2002 by four talented young men (DENNIS CLARK , MICHAEL WELCH , VINCE HEARD , and COREY NORWOOD ) with an ambition to pursue music and a hunger to succeed in the music industry. These young men, all students at the University of Southern Mississippi, began by singing around campus at different functions as a means to showcase their exceptional talents. A year later, another valuable addition was made to the group and this individual is THOMAS MORRIS. By adding him as the fifth element (with his "unique" soulful sound) to the group, Unique Image was now ready to take their music to the next level.
The group consists of a variety of different talents and skills in which everyone contributes significantly. This enables the group to function as a unit in which each element is equally important. Unique Image has had numerous performances in the Hattiesburg area, which includes singing at "A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." held collectively by the USM chapters of NAACP and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. At this event, the group sang an old spiritual entitled "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". The song's significance and the group's harmony captivated the audience.
Unique Image is currently an independent group that has not yet been signed to any major record label; however, the group has still managed to record and release their first single entitled "Serenade," a ballad that has stormed the radio waves with harmonic, soulful R&B that has been well missed and wholeheartedly embraced by all that hear it, and Club Banger "Yo Body" that has club goers telling the DJ to play another slow jam. With Unique Image gaining notarity quickly in their community and sucess still fresh in their eyes, August 15 of 2004 would be the bearer of bad news. Group member Dennis Clark, a recent Computer Science graduate, excitedly but reluctantly embarked on his journey in the workforce. Dennis Clark, whom shared his note with Vincent Heard, left for a job offer in Reno, Nevada. Dennis' departure, though heartbreaking, did not disturb the structure or efficiency of the group's already four part harmony that people have grown to expect and love. Unique Image has since then dedicated their time, money, and voices into becoming a total package. Developing a 30+ song catalog that includes but is not limited to Ballad style R&B, Neo Soul, Crunk & B, starting their own label/production company (Unique Image Entertainment, LLC), and creating their own clothing line (I.N.K/Inspire New Knowledge).
These four young crooners have become very mindful of the determination needed to make their mark on the music industry, and thus they pride themselves on the slogan, "It's not the job you have, but the one you want!"
