Cross the gentlest songs of Belle & Sebastian and Nick Drake and you'll have a sense of this Swedish group's mellow indie pop. Hushed vocals tell wistful tales to the accompaniment of softly plucked folk guitars. Is it any wonder the group's EP is being released by Withdrawn Records?
Biography
These four songs are the first by the group Us and them. These songs are also the first Ep to be released on Withdrawn Records.
Growing up in a small Swedish town, like the two members of ?Us & Them? have, often leaves you with no other choice than to follow the strong norm . If you, for one or another reason, don?t do that , you probably spend a lot of time dreaming of being someone other, to live somewhere else or to do something else. That?s a classic background for people who make music or anything other creative. The feeling of us against them in a small town could be very strong. That?s what made us start our band and that?s how we got our name.
Enough said about the name. Now something about the music. Romantic and straight forward, sometimes sentimental but always with some hope along the way, pretentious but with a smile put in here and there. Intimate but somewhat withdrawn. Maybe bittersweet could be a word. But in most songs the band can?t hide there passion for a beautiful pop tune.
