Biography

Back in the mid '90's Vayder X taught himself to DJ with a pair of turntables he bought off of a friend. A guitarist for years, he welcomed the challenge of playing a very different type of instrument. It didn't take long for him to be hooked. "Dj'ing brought the fun back into music for me, It became a very enjoyable expirience. The next step, of course, was to Dj my own music". Some thoughts on where Vayder's style came from, "There were many times where I'd meet an Electronica/Techno DJ and would spin a little with them. Being a Hip-Hop DJ and not knowing too much about the records I was playing, sometimes I'd mistakenly play a 45rpm record at 33rpm.. You'd think I would have committed a serious faux paux, however the result sounded pretty damn cool.. The only one who ever noticed I played the record wrong was the DJ who's record it was.." "When I began to learn how production, I couldn't afford an MPC. Instead I bought a Roland MC303 which had a huge impact on my creative style. With no sampling capability, I had to learn to be creative with the sounds at hand, using various sounds in very different ways in order to get something that sounded good. I also had no idea what I was doing either, maybe that explains it more.." "One day I heard "Yoshima Battles the Pink Robots" by the Flaming Lips. It's still one of my most favorite albums. Its an absolute perfect mix of beats, melody, glitch, indie rock, distortion and psychadelia." "I used to record everything on my tape recorder when I was a really young and make sound collections. Yes, my family thought I was weird too.." Read more about Vayder X at his website: Downtempo.Breakbeat.Electronica http://www.vayderx.com
