If a weird German techno label had produced the Streets, Mike Skinner would have some serious competition in Vert. The Cologne-based producer writes sing-song-y vocal hooks and lays them over kitchy techno noises--a juxtaposition that is at first intriguing if not necessarily lasting.

Adam Vert Butler first gained a reputation as one of britain's best drill and bass artists. He started his anarchic and joyful "Bovinyl" label with Andy Coleman of Animals on Wheels and released a couple of 12"s. When success knocked on his door Vert stopped making music and started to study computer science and marxist philosophy. Two years later he returned with his fantastic "Mewantemooseic" 12" on cologne's sonig label. Then he presented his complex and bizarre interpretation of Keith Jarret's classic "Koln Konzert". Vert was back to rock the half pipe. the reviews were all positive and the fans were all excited.
His new 12" "Moremooseicforme" will be everyone's prefered piece of vinyl 2000 but it is only a teaser for his collection of timeless evergreens called "Nine types of ambiguity". Electronic music is a free horse running wild and easy. Vert can ride it and we are more than thrilled to join his excursions.
