Biography

The first formation of the band is of March 98 and it had Anderson Bouzan as vocal, Fernando Enrique as guitar player and the brothers: Akira as bass player e João Paulo as drummer.

Since the beginning the idea has always been to invest in own music, and it was the result of a partnership between Anderson Bouzan and Fernando Enrique for compositions. From this partnership some musics had been composed like: Tão Distante, Você não sabe o que quer and Papo com o Diabo, among others.

A short time later, the band decided to join the guitar player Binsk, who came to give more strenght to the band sound. With  this formation the band was invited to play in a festival in "Sesc Itaquera"  using the provisory name of "Pecado Capital", chosen for the event and soon later changed to "Versus".

With the new name the band goes on performing in festivals, bars and fairs. In  January  2000 the band release the first demo CD named Versus with the following tracks: Champanhe, Você não sabe o que quer, Papo com o Diabo, Pura Paranóia and Sem Saída.

2000 and 2001 were years of many changes for the band, Akira left and Leandro joined as bass player, Fernando Enrique and Binsk also left. Versus experiences difficult moments. The band had to search  a new guitar player and start over again. After some tests, Anderson Bouzan invited, to assume the guitar, Rodrigo Meireles, with whom he had already played with João Paulo in a band called "Versáteis" between 95 and 96.

Soon later Leandro left the band, for personal reasons and the bass turned to Anderson Bouzan?s responsability. At the same time Versus invited an old friend, Leonardo Romeu to the keyboards, that had already played harmonica in the track Papo com o Diabo in the first demo CD of the band and was also one of the Versáteis?s members.

In 2002,  Versus is:

Anderson Bouzan: vocal and bass;

João Paulo: drums;

Leonardo Romeu: keyboard, harmonica and vocal;

Rodrigo Meireles: eletric guitar, acustic guitar and vocal.

At that time the band sent the demo CD to some radios around the world and had the songs played for some months in a radio in Los Angeles called KSCR (University of Southern California) in a Latin rock program.

With this consolidated formation, in August of the same year, the band enters in a studio to record a new CD (EP), produced by Edson Secco, with the following tracks: Tão Distante, Ilusão, Como é bom estar Contigo, Só você me faz Cantar and Papo com o Diabo (having Nasi, vocalist of Ira! (famous brazilian rock band), as a special guest.

Due to the difficulty in conciliating the record schedule with job and university activities and also to a problem with the studio equipament, the EP was only finished in February of 2003. Some months later the band changed the name to "Verus".

The new name brought luck to the band which in July 2003 won the first prize in the 1st BSH Continental Winter Music Festival with the song Papo com o Diabo, causing good impression to the audience.

This is our history since the beginning up to now. From now on the history is still to be written.
