Editor's review

Swedish rock bands always seem to do it better than the American groups they imitate, and nowhere is that more true than in heavy metal. VII Gates prove the point again with hard-riffin' material that's more Maiden than Maiden themselves, from nasty axework to uber-spooky keyboards to vocals that reside in the Geddy Lee stratosphere.

Biography

VII Gates started out in late 1999, and is one of the bands where there was true magic from the beginning. Unfortunatly though, one of the founding members, bassplayer David Angsviks, died in a traffic accident 8 months later. Some tough years followed, recording demos and trying to convince the record companies that this was something special.

But it would take until 2003 before they finally got signed to a small portugiese label called Sound Riot Records. The first album, called "Fire, walk with me", got fanastic reviews from magazines and ezines from all around the world, but the record company didn't manage to distribute the albums to all countries, so the sales was a little disaster. VII Gates have now changed to a label located in Finland, called Lion Music, and is recording album #2 just as this biography is written. Will be out sometimes in 2006. Until this, please enjoy some of the highlights from "Fire, walk with me".

Here are some short notes from the reviews: "VII Gates' heavy metal is close to perfect" (Tartaeran Desire)

"Sound Riot have a winner in this band - perhaps they?ve discovered the next Rainbow or UFO!!" (Battle Helm)

"If this band holds it together and is fortunate enough to ?make it big? over time, Fire, Walk With Me will eventually be hailed as a classic Metal album that will be held up by many as one of the better efforts the genre has ever produced. My advice to you is to get on the bandwagon now and be one of the first to make this realization before someone tells you you should have 10 years from now!" (Metalexpressradio.com)

"Now its up to the metalheads to discover what a truly good band VII Gates really are." (Metal-ruls.com)

"I'm not sure if the band knows which songs they wrote kick the most ass either." (Metalcrypt.com)
