I frequently listen to the 'Virtual Byrd Choir' and enjoy their recordings enormously. The fresh feel and clear ensemble self evident in their output surely comes as a result of a unity of purpose amongst the membership.

The comforting warmth of this delivery more than compensates the lack of feminine voices and stands as one of the most enveloping renditions of Byrd's finest Kyrie.
Masterfully interpreted.

According to the Virtual Byrd Consort website, a single, non-professional (!!) singer is responsible for all the voices through multi-tracking. On the one hand, this is almost unbelievable: how can one singer range from countertenor down through bass? The amount of time and work involved in recording a single piece must be staggering. On the other hand, there is a consistency to the tone of the voices which is very satisfying. These recordings are excellent in every way: musically, stylistically, recording quality. First rate!
