Editor's review

Westcott packs a devastating emo-pop punch. The band's wild musical acrobatics know no bounds except the confines of a three-minute single. Howling vocals and crunching guitars of doom await the uninitiated.

Biography

There's no need to make our bio sound like a sales pitch or use a bunch of choice adjectives to get our point across. We are a hard working band that is willing to pay dues to make it in this business. Each one of us in the band have jeopardized our personal/financial well being (making us very bitter at times) for the greater good of the group. While Westcott has been a band for over 2 years, we like to think we really only started taking it seriously in February of 2004.

We started getting our feet wet in the local music scene by playing with anyone and anywhere. In June of 2004 we had our first professional studio experience at The Sonic Temple in Union, MO. With the help of Jason McEntire and Jill Wood we ended up with "Motion Creates Emotion," the first track from the "new" Westcott. Right around this time we parted ways with our old drummer and enlisted the help of rock and roll superstar Geoff Gracey. We started to put more effort into promoting our band and it paid off.

In July of 2004, Westcott was selected to play in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 8 at the St. Louis Vans Warped Tour. We had a rad crowd even though it was hot as hell. In the months leading up to November of 2004, we switched bass players, built our own website, were featured on a Purevolume/Wraptor compilation CD (Loaded: Volume One) and have been working hard to find our "sound" and build a stronger, more widespread fanbase. In the first week of November 2004 we went back into The Sonic Temple with Jason McEntire (at last!) to record two more songs, "Manhattan" and "The Dreamers of 1227," and we were a featured band in Asylum Magazine's #008 issue. We are still poor. So in closing, come out to a Westcott show and help us write the rest!
