Aiming to take jazz back from the snobbified ranks of the Sennheiser set, Maynard, MA bandleader, bassist, and promoter Rick Maida has formed a loose-knit collective that serves up cool jazz and hard bop for the masses. Expect twinkling ivory, blissful bass lines, and to wonder whether Gerry and Horace just slipped in the door.
Bassist and band leader Rick Maida has brought together local musicians in various contexts over the years to offer music "for the people and by the people." As a music promoter, he organized many community concert series and established jazz nights at several area venues. As a performer, his musical experience spans 30 years of involvement in the diverse styles of jazz, folk, rock and blues.?His band's?music combines some common elements of those genres into spontaneous unpretentious musical expressions accessible to all audiences. He aims to connect creative musicians and listeners with good-time groovin' music that combines easy listening with lively entertainment. His band's repertoire includes classic swing, bop, blues, jazz standards and original compositions.
