Biography

The new CD Subsonic Laws of Deconstruction should come with a warning label "Do not operate heavy machinery while under the influence of Zentropia." This latest release from the San Francisco experimental band travels through heavy stepping dub tracks with frequent excursions to layers of gooey, melting ambient interludes and smatterings of drone and noise suites, classifying the journey as a full blown trip.

Guitarist and producer Mark Bray is known for pushing the limits of modern dub mixing, seemingly distorting the very fabric of space and time. The title track “Subsonic Laws of Deconstruction” stretches melodies with the mass of an interstellar black hole.

Bassist and percussionist Darcy Rowley brings things back down to earth with her stepping dub grooves. In the epic song “Snakes Guard our Secrets,” the subterranean sounds are capable of registering on seismic devices.

“The Digital Void Has Stolen Your Soul” creates a possible scenario of what it would sound like to be converted to zeros and ones and be transmitted across cyberspace; vast echoes of eerie ambience, pulsating rhythms and what might be the roar of a nightmarish hard drive crashing virus following close on your heels.

The duo has been unleashing their twisted deep space dub sounds upon unsuspecting ears for nearly ten years. Subsonic Laws of Deconstruction is a must have for serious sonic drifters or for anyone interested in losing track of their own existence.
